Folgers Crystals were first introduced in 1975 with the 'Tastes As Rich As It Looks' campaign. Then, in 1980, the company pulled off a successful stunt with 'The Great Folgers Switch'. This campaign involved secretly replacing the regular coffee of unsuspecting customers in several luxury restaurants with Folgers Crystals. In 1958, after taking the time to create a superior product, Folgers Instant was launched and became immensely popular.
However, it was later discontinued as it failed to meet customer expectations.
